I thought it would be fun to write my thoughts on the election b/c it could be intereseting to look back on.
I was not surprised that Obama won. I would have been more surprised if Romney would have won. I did have hope that Romney would win though. I wanted Romney to win and no not because his is mormon {although at least as mormons we share a lot of the same beliefs}. My main reason for wanting Romney to win was to get rid of Obama care. So I will just talk about that...
I do think our healthcare system needs a reform, but Obama care is not the answer. I am honestly worrried for the quality of doctors we are going to have in the future. No one realizes how much work going through med school and a residency is until you or your spouse goes through it. Seriously if Beegh works a 12 hour day it is a short day for him, then he comes home and has to log all his cases etc. Who is going to want to go through 4 yrs of med school and then a 3 yr residency { longer for so many others} if they are not going to be compensated for it. I am not saying that doctors need to be paid a crazy amount, but to be able to pay back student loans etc. they need a decent salary in order for it to be an appealing career. So who is going to go through all of that to come out and not be compensated or to be told what to do? How sad to have to preform procedure A when procedure B is what your patient really needs, but you can't do it b/c you have to stay within the alloted amount given by the goverment. I think so many people have the impression that Dr.'s don't do that much and are way over paid. Which couldn't be further from the truth. Besides family really what is more imporatant than your health? I want a qualified Dr. taking care of me, not someone that got into med school b/c standards were lowered due to a low amount of applicants.
I also feel like so many people say they voted for Obama { I live in PA and get to hear both sides of the debate} b/c he cares about women more. I think this pretty much boils down to him being pro-choice. I just cannot wrap my head around why anyone would be pro-choice { other than rape}. The second you decided to have sex you made your choice. You risked getting pregant, now you must live with the consequences of your choice. Another life is now invovled how unfair for that sweet innocent baby that can't speak for itself. I understand some people are not in a possition to be a parent, but there is adoption. So many people would love to have kids, but can't. Okay I am getting off topic!
So in the end my prediction is that Obamacare is something we might not see the effects of right away, but once we do its going to be terrible. Oh how I hope I am wrong.
