Halloween 2011

Once again Halloween turned out to be one of my favorite holidays. I love how the whole neighborhood just comes to life; everyone is out and about! Really I had no idea our neighborhood had so many kids. It even rained here a little, but that didn't stop anyone. Sharlie hates when her shoes get wet, but tonight she couldn't have cared less.
Last yr. Sharlie kind of understood Halloween, but it was on a Sunday so we only had a trunk or treat. Trunk or treating is fun, but going to peoples houses and seeing all their creative Halloween displays is the best. It's a whole different atmosphere. I loved watching Sharlie go from house to house collecting her candy with such excitement! Any house that was decorated Sharlie would point to and say "maybe we can go to that house"! Instead of saying trick or treat most of the time Sharlie would walk right up and just say thank you.
Watching all of this made me remember just how much I loved Halloween as a kid. Funny how dressing up and getting tons of candy can bring so much joy! As the night went on Sharlie started walking slower and slower so I would ask if she was tired and with out hesitation she would say "I'm not tired I want to keep going". Her bucket got so full {our neighborhood is awesome; so many people gave out regular sized candy bars} that we had to come to the house to empty it. Once we got here she then gave in to being done. She enjoyed giving other trick or treaters candy almost as much as getting candy for herself. She would look out the window and yell their coming, their coming and run over to the door so fast!
Cole obviously didn't get what was happening , but he did thoroughly enjoy a sucker or two { he was also a very cute little pirate}.
I know for sure that when I look back on my kids lives memories of Halloween will be some of my favorite.
