5K

Yesterday I ran my first 5K! I know all you marathon runners are
thinking, 5K please that is nothing, but I have never been into running
before so I was pretty happy that I did it. I was sooo worried I was
going to get last place. I wasn't sure if most people there were going
to be hardcore runners. Well I didn't get last so that felt good. My
time was 30 mins and 20 sec. When I run by myself a 5k normally takes
me 34 mins so I think the environment really helped push me. I loved
the environment, just something about a bunch of people running
together for a good cause.

So I was wondering what do you runners think about when you run? I
noticed that when I first started running I would think negative (oh I
got to stop, I can't do this, I can't breath), but now I think a lot
more positive (I got this, only 5 more mins, I can keep going etc.)
Anyway, while the weather is nice I hope to get in some more 5k's, who
knows maybe I'll make the jump to a 10k!

Congrats on your first 5K...I am not a runner either even though I did cross country in high school and completed my first 5K in Feb. Keep with it. It gets easier as you go.

That's awesome! I used to run track in highschool and I loved it. I don't really remember what I thought about though. I probably just thought about winning. LOL I am proud of you, what an accomplishment! =c)

Randee! I'm so proud! I love the race atmosphere as well. There is something about it that is so...motivating. If I think negative, its game over. So I try to think more along the lines of, if I keep running, I'll get done faster. Or make it to the light pole, and then pick a new goal. Music helps too. You've got to have the great songs on that you sing outloud too.

I love that you are such a great goal setter. Way to go. Maybe when you come here we can run a 5k together.
